The Electric Car is back again.
This time, it is being showcased in Pasadena, California at the Brainstorm Green Conference.
The car is called Think and it is a short distance driver’s dream.
It will go 110 miles at a max speed of 65 miles an hour on an 8 hour charge. When you run out of juice, the Think will plug into any standard household power supply and produces no emissions.
The Think Car
The brand behind Think used to be owned by Ford. The auto maker later sold it to a Norwegian company that is now bringing it back to the U.S. Overall it is a compelling package, but the question still stands as to whether you can make electrically “fueled” vehicles convenient enough to be adopted by the mainstream.
One problem that arises is that until the infrastructure is built up, you may be hard pressed to find a place to plug your car in for the night if you’re caught out on the road.
Add to that its small size and $25k price point, and you have a vehicle that’s a hard sell for anyone but the most gas-jaded commuters.
On top of its billing as a green machine, it comes with a host of tech toys. It has built-in GPS, Bluetooth and an onboard computer among other things.
How well will the Think be adopted? We will have to wait and see when it arrives in 2009.
